Director, Software Engineering Remote

The Director of Software Engineering guides a team of internal and external software engineers, shaping the direction of software development efforts and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software products. This role is hands-on, supporting software engineers in troubleshooting, code reviews, and technical discussions while also driving innovation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and executing the software engineering strategy aligned with overall business objectives.

The Director collaborates with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and quality assurance, to define requirements, prioritize initiatives, and ensure timely product delivery. This role leads by example, is eventually responsible for technical and architectural choices, and is a key driver of technical excellence, security, and scalability across the GetGoing organization.

As a Director, Software Engineering, you will

  • Establish best practices, processes, and tools to ensure consistent, high-quality, and cost-effective delivery of software products developed by both internal and external engineering teams
  • Ensure that software products adhere to corporate security policies and guidelines, including PCI compliance and how they impact the delivery of technical solutions
  • Be responsible for conducting Security Risk Assessments and Privacy Risk Assessments in collaboration with the company’s Information Security team
  • Lead the development of high-quality, scalable, and performant multi-platform software systems, leveraging both internal and external engineering resources
  • Manage the selection of third-party technology vendors and tools. Manage the relationship with technology 3-rd party vendors, including billing and administration for tools specific to the functional area
  • Lead and communicate change and set team priorities

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Extensive experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of technical expertise
  • Considerable experience in technology leadership, including guiding and managing high-performing teams in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Proven ability to create and execute technical roadmaps aligned with long-term business goals
  • Proficiency in software development methodologies, tools, and technologies including but not limited to object-oriented programming, cloud services, CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous delivery), AWS, Python, Elasticsearch, React, PWA, and REST/SOAP APIs
  • Excellent communication skills—oral, written, and presentation—with fluency in English.
